Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has welcomed the suo motu notice taken by the Chief Justice of Supreme Court on the statement of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on the fast deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi. He hoped that superior judiciary would play its due role and take solid steps for restoring peace and normalcy in the metropolis.
He said that the governmental institutions have failed in maintaining law and order in Karachi and it is the military only which can solve the problem. The army chief has already offered to extend a helping hand in this regard. The Supreme Court, he said, can constitutionally assign the task of restoring peace in the violence-hit city to the military. He said that people had pinned high hopes on the Supreme Court that the apex court would deliver historic judgment to restore peace in the city, which is Pakistan’s financial lifeline.
