Central Working Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International held an emergency meeting
to discuss the situation arising out of the worst energy crisis which has come to
engulf the entire country. The Council expressed its deep concern over the energy
shortages and demanded of the government to withdraw the recent price hike.
The meeting was presided over by Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, acting Secretary General
of MQI. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government needed to resolve
the problems which were affecting the people’s lives directly.
He said that the energy crisis would increase the ratio of unemployment in the
country which would have grave implications for the law and order situation as crimes
would increase. He further said that persistence of the energy crisis would also
slow down the economic growth. He asked the government to concentrate on this most
immediate issue.
