Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri established the Muslim-Christian Dialogue
Forum (MCDF) to promote interfaith harmony and dialogue. It aimed at working for
minorities rights as enshrined in the Pakistani Constitution and Islam, whetting
feelings of goodwill among different communities, eradicating extremist tendencies,
and addressing the reservations of the minorities if any so that people of all communities
could take part in national development.
Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations of Minhaj-ul-Quran International,
expressed these views while paying tribute to the inspiring leadership of Shaykh-ul-Islam
Dr Muhammah Tahir-ul-Qadri in a meeting with a delegation of the minorities which
called on him in his office in Lahore. The delegation, which was led by Bishop Akbar
Khokar, consisted of Pundit Baghat Lal, Kashi Raam, and Sardar Kiani Ranjeet Singh.
He told the delegation that in an environment permeated with extremist and sectarian
tendencies, rifts and violence, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has played
a commendable role in bringing the followers of different communities closer, building
bridges and forging unity against the divisive forces.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders of minority communities said that they
needed to join forces with Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri to make this
world a place worth living. They termed his struggle worthy of emulation.
