Eliminating extremism & decrees of violence responsibility of the state: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the capital punishment handed down by the military courts to the terrorists has resulted in decreasing the incidence of terrorism in the country. He said that no stone was left unturned to neutralize and sabotage the work of the military courts during the tenure of the previous government but the armed forces of Pakistan remained committed in their resolve to uproot terrorism from the motherland and rendered matchless sacrifices in the process, stating that this is a show of their patriotism and professionalism.
In a statement, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the Pakistan military did their part of the job tremendously well but the kind of initiatives and steps expected of the civilian arm of the state to complement the anti-terror efforts were not forthcoming the way they should have with the result that the most provisions of the National Action Plan remain unimplemented as of today.
Dr Qadri said that the previous Army Chief announced to bust the nexus between corruption and terrorism. He said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that terrorism was brought to its knees due to kinetic actions and sheer resolve of the armed forces and now serious headway is being made to hit corruption networks.
The PAT Chairman said that a comprehensive national narrative needs to be fashioned to counter terrorism and extremism and the Parliament has a role cut out for itself. He said that the state will have to come down hard on the ‘takfeeri’ thought based on the religious decrees of violence and terrorism. He said that more than 25 books were written on the platform of the MQI that targeted the ideological foundations of the scourge.
“We presented a peace road map in addition to exposing the terrorist and ‘takfeeri’ thought. The future of Pakistan and the Muslim world is linked with peace, knowledge and elimination of all kinds of terrorism,” he concluded.
