Issues Should Be Resolved Through Dialogue, Not Adversarial Resolutions: PAT

Senior central leader of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, has expressed concern over the approval of a resolution in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly against Punjab regarding the wheat issue. He said, “Issues will not be solved through adversarial resolutions, but through dialogue.” He further added, "A lot was lost in the flood, but national unity should not be lost. The wheat issue should be resolved in the Council of Common Interests." He emphasized that food security for the public is the responsibility of the federal government.
He stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s stance is that during a difficult time, the Punjab government imposed a ban on wheat transport, creating difficulties for millions of people in the province. As a result, the price of a 20 kg bag of flour has risen by up to 68%. This expensive flour is unaffordable for the province's middle and low-income citizens. He called on the Punjab government to respond seriously and promptly to this allegation, as provinces are meant for administrative affairs and every citizen of Pakistan has an equal right to the country’s resources.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur also mentioned that the All Pakistan Flour Mills Association has confirmed the imposition of a ban on wheat transport. The Flour Mills Association stated that halting free trade within the country violates Article 151 of the Constitution and undermines basic rights.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur further said, "The ruling authorities are appealing to the public to help the flood victims generously. However, if they themselves narrow their hearts, it will harm relief efforts and national unity." He pointed out that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are dealing with both the devastation of floods and the scourge of terrorism. In this regard, our armed forces are fighting a dangerous battle for peace and the protection of the public, with daily martyrdoms.
At this critical time, he urged that Punjab, along with other provinces, should adopt a compassionate attitude towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated, "Punjab should play the role of an elder brother in this difficult time." He also advised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government that adversarial resolutions would increase division and discrimination, so dialogue should be prioritized. He concluded by saying that safeguarding national unity is the shared responsibility of all four provincial governments and the people.
