Pakistan Solidarity conference 2002 , Manchester June 2, 2002
Manchester
The chief guest at the Pakistan Solidarity conference was Dr. Tahir ul-Qadri, Chairman Pakistan Awami Tehreek(PAT) and Founder of Minhaj ul Quran Movement.

The Piccadilly hotel was packed to capacity with well over 2000 men and women eager to listen to Dr. Tahir ul Qadri. The speech by Dr. Qadri was very informative and powerful. His talk focused on the true concept of Islam and Politics, the history of Pakistan as well as the Kashmir issue.

In relation to Islam and Politics Dr Qadri referred to the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) and gave the example of the Islamic state of Medina. Dr Qadri emphasised that the Holy Prophet (saw) began the Islamic rule not with salah, fasting, zakah etc but with making sure that the citizens of the state-the ansars and muhajirs- were provided with their basic necessities of food, home and clothing. Dr Qadri referred to the situation in Pakistan and said the Islam and the politics of the Prophet (saw), sadly, could not be found in Pakistan.

He ripped apart the Pakistani leaders accusing them of being corrupt and unable to run the country. He stated that 90% of the people of Pakistan are living under the poverty line and this was due to the Pakistani politicians simply ignoring the needs of the masses whilst they lived as kings. Dr Qadri gave many facts and figures in how Pakistan can be revived in terms of its economy and leadership. In reference to the Kashmir issue Dr Qadri stated that if there was cross-bordered infiltration then why could not the strong 700,000 Indian troops in Kashmir stop it- "were they there for a picnic?" Dr. Qadri said India has butchered innocent Kashmirs, laying the blame on the door of Pakistan. Pictures of the conference can be seen at  http://www.pat4y.com
