Lahore, June 18: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Wednesday refused to appear before a judicial commission formed to probe into the killing of at least eight PAT supporters after they clashed with local police on Tuesday. Speaking to his followers through a video link from Canada, he said that they do not recognise this judicial commission and will not appear before it either. He reiterated his demand that Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif was responsible for the incident and should resign from his post. read more...
Lahore: The death toll in the violent clashes between supporters of an influential Canada-based Pakistani cleric and Lahore police today rose to nine as one more victim of the riot succumbed to his injuries. Jinnah Hospital Medical Superintendent Abdul Rauf confirmed the death of a 24-year-old man who was wounded when police and Tahirul Qadri's supporters clashed over removing barricades near the cleric's residence and office. read more...

Pakistani police said Thursday they had filed terrorism charges against followers of a prominent preacher and anti-government critic, including his son, following clashes with the group in the eastern city of Lahore. Director Administration Minhajul Quran Jawad Hamid filed an application with the Faisal Town Police station on Thursday for registration of murder cases against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz and 21 others over Lahore mayhem. Earlier, PAT Chief Allama Tahirul Qadri had expressed no confidence in the provincial government and declined to lodge an FIR with police, which he claimed were killers of his party workers. PML (Q) leaders Senator Kamil Ali Agha, former Law Minister Dr Khalid Ranjha, Chairman Sunni Ittehad Council Sahibzada Hamid Raza accompanied by Jawad Hamid went to the police station to file the application.
