Addressing a local government workers convention held in Layyah, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the current system is the enemy of prosperity and national security. Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Lahore took out a rally from Aiwan-e-Iqbal to the Lahore Press Club to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brothers and sisters. The participants of the rally were carrying the national flags, placards, banners and charts on which the slogans condemning India for its brutality and showing support and solidarity with Kashmiris were written. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the war is not a solution of any dispute but it appears that the age-old issue of Kashmir doesn't seem to be nearing resolution without war. He said that the peace of the region is conditional on the resolution of Kashmir issue. He further stated that the United Nations will have to fulfill it's promise it made with Kashmiris in the form of resolutions sanctioning their right to self determination. He warned that Indian occupied Kashmir is a flashpoint in South Asia that can trigger a massive war if serious efforts are not initiated to bring India and Pakistan to the negotiating table. read more...

In a meeting held at the Central Secretariat of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), senior PAT leaders have regretted the absence of timely legislation on the local government elections. They said that keeping the people deprived of their constitutional right of vote is not only a deviation from the democratic norms but also a violation of the constitution. A meeting of the PAT Central Executive Council (CEC) was held at the central secretariat in which matters related to the local bodies elections came under discussion. The local PAT chapters and office-holders were given instructions regarding appropriate candidates. The meeting also decided to launch a coordinated mass contact campaign ahead of LG polls.
