Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday has disposed of Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) plea seeking formation of new joint investigation team (JIT) to probe Model Town carnage and directed the provincial government to reconstitute the team. A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Azmat Saeed, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Mazhar Alam Mian heard the case. read more...

Will present our point of view before SC on December 5: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that we will present our point of view before the larger bench of the Supreme Court for constitution of a new JIT to probe the Model Town tragedy. The SC is going to take up the petition at its principal seat in Islamabad on December 5. He said that the establishment of a new JIT is inevitable to open the doors of justice on the families of the martyrs. LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered constitution of a five-member larger bench to hear a petition seeking new joint investigation team to probe the Model Town Massacre. Hearing the case at the apex court’s Lahore Registry today, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said the new larger bench would hear the case from December 5 to examine the plea whether formation of a new JIT needed to process the case. read more...
